The RC organisation of Brunei, PEMKAR, recently held an
electric on-road race in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. The annual
race marks the start of racing season in this region. The venue for this year’s
race was the Youth Center Hall that had an indoor carpet track laid out. Some
50 racers joined the race in four classes. The premier class was the Open
modified touring car that saw attracted the most racers. The other classes were
novice touring car, M-type chassis and Drift. Spec Sweep 32 QTS tyres were used
for both touring car classes as well as spec Hobbywing Justock 11.5T combos for
the novice TC class.
Five qualifying rounds were held with all classes but the
M-types raced 5 minutes with the latter only being run one round of which the
fastest lap time counted as qualifier. In the modified class Wirawan, driving
the brand new Serpent S411 LE grabbed the TQ spot after posting the only 28
lappers during the qualifying rounds, followed by Hj Abu who were also driving
an S411 and very close behind on third spot was Hazmi with his Xray T3 ’12.
This made Serpent 1-2 on the starting grid. In the novice class, Hj Leong
debuted his new Xray T3 ’12 and straight away went to grab the TQ spot followed
by Shamsul and Abd Rahman. All of them were driving Xray cars. In the modified
open class finals TQ Wirawan won the first and third A main, giving him the
overall win followed by Hazmi and Hj Abu.
The touring car novice class was won by HJ Leong, followed
by Shamsul and Bahrien. The M-type class was won by Sham, in front of Wen and
Harris DM. The victory in the drift class went to Samboi, followed by Najib and
Aries.
